[dateline] -- The Columbus health department inspects all restaurants and food-related businesses, and if a problem is encountered, a hearing is held.
Health officials held hearings on Monday, naming two more restaurants with violations, claiming the facilities are either dirty or unsafe, NBC 4's Mike Bowersock reported.
Since July 2006, Jumbo Pizza on Indianola Avenue has been inspected five separate times -- and some of the violations were noted on each visit.
Among the violations are claims of not separating raw meat from vegetables, plumbing problems and employees not washing their hands.
The Jumbo Pizza owner told the health board that many of the problems, including overflowing trash Dumpsters, were not his fault -- and asked for different health inspectors in the future.
Inspectors recommended Jumbo Pizza be closed for three days.
Bayleaf India Bistro was also cited in the recent months for not separating raw meat from other foods.
Owner Raj Gupta furnished the health department with an action plan on how to improve the conditions of his 4-month-old restaurant.
He also noted that part of the problem is attributed to miscommunication between parties within the industry.
Inspectors recommended the restaurant be closed for one day.
Two additional restaurants will face the health board on Wednesday.
