[dateline] -- A hit list was discovered at a Central Ohio high school on Tuesday and now a student is in hot water with school officials and the county sheriff.
The small piece of paper caught the eye of an educational aide at Miami Trace High School, NBC 4's Ana Jackson reported.
The school principal said the paper contained the title "Hit List" followed by students' names and President George W. Bush.
The principal told NBC 4 that the student who wrote the list is a freshman and allegedly told officials he was "just goofing around." The student didn't have any weapons, but the list is being taken seriously.
The student, who only had a tardy on his record, now faces a 10-day suspension and misdemeanor charges from the Fayette County sheriff.
The principal said he called the parents of the students who were on the list. Letters were scheduled to be sent on Wednesday to all parents, explaining the incident.
