LANCASTER, Ohio -- Police have new information that may help solve a 19-year-old murder case.
DNA evidence is identifying a possible suspect almost two decades after a teenager was found dead, NBC 4's Tacoma Newsome reported.
Stacy Fairchild disappeared February 2, 1989, after she left her job at Lancaster's River Valley Mall.
Stacy's burned-out car was discovered the next day, and investigators found her body in the nearby Hocking River three days later.
Lancaster Police have charged Lendy William Dysart, 44, with one count of aggravated murder and one count of murder in connection with the teen's death.
Dysart has been in jail since September of 2007 on an aggravated robbery charge.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation found that DNA collected from the recent robbery scene and from the nearly 20-year-old murder case both matched Dysart's sample, according to Lancaster Police.
Dysart remains in jail on $1 million bond and will be arraigned Thursday morning, Newsome reported.
