COLUMBUS, Ohio – The city is preparing for nasty weather Thursday night and Friday morning.
Crews have already begun treating roads for the expected snow, sleet and freezing rain that may hit Thursday night, NBC 4's Ben Gelber reported.
The Ohio Department of Transportation and the city began pre-treating roads with liquid brine Thursday morning.
The city plans to have about 50 trucks on the road after 8 p.m. Thursday hitting bridges, ramps and overpasses especially hard. The city said that they'll also be treating arterials and main roads as the conditions get slippery.
ODOT said that they will have a contingent of trucks out on Central Ohio highways. They plan to work 12 hour shifts to remove snow and ice as conditions worsen through the night.
