CENTRAL OHIO -- Mothers Against Drunk Driving again teamed up with state officials and local law enforcement to curb drinking and driving this holiday season.
This marked year 22 for the event that encourages drivers to tie a red ribbon on their vehicle to promote awareness and bring to light the dangers of drinking and driving.
NBC 4's Marcus Thorpe reported 473 Ohioans died because of drunk-driving incidents in 2007 and 37 of those were between Thanksgiving and New Year's.
Bob Kent spoke at the Thursday campaign launch. Kent lost his 21-year-old son Brandon along with two other people Christmas Day 2004.
The campaign also calls for a commitment to buckle up because a seatbelt is the best defense against a drunk driver.
If you would like a red ribbon or sticker for your car, go to www.madd.org or contact your local MADD office.
