WILMINGTON, Ohio -- The city of Wilmington will receive some financial help in response to the closure of DHL's transport facility, NBC 4 reported.
Senator Sherrod Brown announced Thursday that Southwestern Ohio will receive $3.87 million in funds from a national emergency grant (NEG) to respond to DHL’s closure of its Wilmington facility.
"DHL’s decision to close it Wilmington facility is an economic tragedy. We need to continue to respond to this tragedy with the same level of urgency and attention that we would apply to a natural disaster or homeland security threat. This national emergency grant will provide critical funds to Southwestern Ohio families and businesses," Brown said.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services filed an initial grant application in August. Grants are awarded by the Labor Secretary to expand job and skills training capacity in response to significant events that create new and urgent needs for assistance.
