[dateline] -- Central Ohioans braced for another round of snowfall Thursday. Monday brought the first dusting of snow of the season -- and with it came a 30-car pile-up.
Are crews ready to prevent that from happening again? Storm Team 4's Ben Gelber got the bottom line from officials on the roadway plans.
The city and the Ohio Department of Transportation have been attacking bridges and overpasses before it snows again.
"They're white stripes that are on the highway. That tells folks that water, salt -- what we call brine -- has been applied to the road and they'll see that today on their travels. We're focusing right now north and east," said Nancy Burton, of the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Monday night's crashes along Interstate 270 and state Route 315 were due to slick roads caused by falling temperatures while snow was still falling.
The plan has been to pre-treat as many elevated surfaces, including bridges, ramps and main roads while increasing the number of road crews.
"We also have a night crew that normally comes in Franklin County at 9 p.m. Now, if they need to come in earlier, that call will also be made," Burton said.
City officials said they have already applied a salt-water mixture to roads and bridges and will call in up to 40 trucks if the snow accumulates.
