COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Wendy's Central Ohio headquarters will lose 134 jobs next year through consolidation following the burger chain's recent takeover by Arby's owner Triarc Cos. Inc.
Wendy's spokesman Bob Bertini says 120 of those jobs will be transferred to Atlanta, the home base of the new Wendy's/Arby's Group. Wendy's employees will have a chance to apply for those positions.
Bertini says another 45 employees who work elsewhere in the United States in marketing, quality control, real estate and finance are being laid off.
The moves are aimed at reducing costs through more efficient operations.
Bertini says it's too early to say how many people now working at Wendy's offices in the Columbus suburb of Dublin will decide to go to Atlanta when the other 120 jobs shift there.
