COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus police dispatchers asked citizens to not use the department's nonemergency number, 614-645-4545, for nonpolice-related matters.
NBC 4's Matt Alvarez got the FAST FACTS Friday.
Too many people are tying up dispatcher lines with questions such as: When does the parade begin? Or can you give me directions to this address?
Instead, police asked you to call the city's call center for city-related matters, and that number is 614-645-3111.
"One of the things we're looking into is making the 4545 number automated -- to only get calls that are police-related," CPD Lieutenant Brent Mull said.
CPD asked citizens to call 614-645-3111 for all city-related questions and comments.
