COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A high school was on lockdown Monday after reports of a weapon in the school, NBC 4 reported.
According to CPD, Independence High School on Refugee Road went on lockdown after reports of a student bringing a weapon to school. The lockdown began after 11 a.m. Monday and ended close to 1 p.m.
Officers went locker to locker, classroom to classroom looking for the suspected weapon, NBC 4's Lauren Diedrich reported.
Columbus City Schools spokesman Jeff Warner told NBC 4 that someone reported to the school administration there could be a weapon in the building. Class changes weren't going on, and interior and exterior doors remained locked.
Diedrich said officers found a weapon in a classroom.
Warner said a ninth-grade student has been detained and two other students were questioned as well.
No arrests were made and no charges have been filed, but police said at the very least, one teenager will be charged with carrying a concealed weapon and bringing it onto school property -- both felony charges.
No injuries were reported.
