COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two brothers were shot Tuesday evening, and Columbus police now have a suspect in the fatal shooting.
Thomas L. Smith, 21, entered the apartment of 21-year-old Douglas Lovett in the 1600 block of Shanley Drive, police said.
That was on the city's Northeast Side at about 7:24 p.m. Tuesday, March 31.
Smith and Lovett argued over allegations of a past theft, and Smith shot at Lovett and others who were in the apartment, according to a police report.
Douglas Lovett and his brother, 19-year-old Aaron Lovett, both were struck, CPD said.
Smith fled the scene on foot.
Douglas was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Aaron was transported to OSU Medical Center Main and was listed in serious condition.
Interviews were conducted with Aaron and others who were in the apartment at the time of the shooting, and all witnesses identified Smith as the shooter, CPD said.
A warrant was filed for the arrest of Thomas L. Smith, charging him with Douglas' murder, police said.
