COLUMBUS, Ohio – The union that represents nearly 35,000 state workers has approved a new contract with some serious cuts.

The Ohio Civil Service Employee Association approved the new deal on Tuesday.
The contract includes no pay increase for three years and a mandatory 10-day furlough in the first two years.
While the changes are significant, union officials say the state’s alternative called for a 6% pay cut and a shorter work week.
