LANCASTER, Ohio -- A sheriff's office continued to investigate what it said was a self-inflicted accidental shooting.
Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen said deputies responded to the 7000 block of Heigle Road at approximately 8:14 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a shooting.
Clayton J. Sharp, 26, of Amanda was shot while riding a QuadRunner through family-owned property off Heigle Road, according to Phalen.
Sharp was not able to say how the shooting occurred, Phalen said.
He was transported to Berger Hospital and later transferred to Grant Medical Center by Med-Flight.
Phalen said early Thursday morning detectives recovered the gun believed to be the one that inflicted the injury.
"At this time, we are treating this as an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Phalen said.
Sharp remained at Grant, and the investigation continues.
