COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. announced targeted workforce changes Friday, including 480 layoffs.
Officials said the changes were made in the Information Technology organization across the country, NBC 4 reported.
Here's a breakdown of those cuts:
* 480 positions eliminated
* 230 staffed by Nationwide Associates, with the balance staffed by third party contractors.
* 150 associates are located in Central Ohio.
Those affected by these targeted layoffs are being offered 60 days paid advance notice, plus severance benefits, as well as assistance to find alternative employment opportunities, whether inside or outside Nationwide.
"Nobody can predict tomorrow. We are making it no secret that we are continuing to explore other efficiency opportunities within the organization," Case said.
Case said other departments within the company are hiring -- like claims organization.
The employees who received notice on Friday may apply for those jobs and will be considered if they are qualified for those positions.
