BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Bowling Green State University is laying off 20 more employees, citing a budget deficit that could reach $10 million. The move affects about 2 percent of the college's clerical and maintenance workers. Friday's announcement follows layoffs of administrative staff earlier this year and a hiring freeze that's been in effect since the fall.
About 70 jobs have been cut through eliminating vacant positions, retirements, and layoffs. President Carol Cartwright says the university has made significant progress in reducing the deficit but more reductions may be needed as the state finalizes its budget.
