COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Several Columbus restaurants were under review Monday after a number of alleged health-code violations.
NBC 4's Tom Brockman reported with the FAST FACTS Monday.
Several local restaurants were meeting before a Columbus Public Health (CPH) hearing officer after inspections found multiple health-code violations.
Officials inspected Number One Chinese Restaurant at 2036 N. High St. in January 2009.
Violations included an employee who went from working with raw chicken to cooking without washing his or her hands, according to CPH.
A follow-up visit found additional violations such as improper heating and cooling of foods and dirty utensils, CPH said.
Another restaurant facing alleged violations was Little Palace Restaurant at 238 S. 4th St.
During a February 2009 inspection, inspectors said they found violations such as improper hand washing and raw foods being stored directly on or above read-to-eat food.
Little Palace Restaurant representatives told Brockman they've corrected all violations and everything is up to code.
A March inspection at Billy Lee's Chinese Cuisine at 2974 E. Broad St. revealed two alleged violations. Inspectors said they found employees who were washing their hands without soap and found raw chicken and beef above ready-to-eat food.
Representatives from each restaurant were given an opportunity to reply to the allegations and to talk about steps taken to bring the restaurants up to code.
The hearing officer will make recommendations to CPH on what steps should be taken and those recommendations could include suspending the restaurants' licenses.
