Secretary Of State Delays Residency Decision

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio's elections chief says she doesn't have enough information to determine whether a state senator is eligible to vote in the district he calls home. Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner said Tuesday that she has invited Republican Jon Husted to submit more evidence showing that his primary residency is in Kettering, outside Dayton.

The Montgomery County Board of Elections in February split 2-2 on Husted's residency. Republican board members said he established residency while Democrats said he did not. Brunner, a Democrat, is empowered to break the tie vote. Husted, a former House speaker, says he spends a considerable amount of time in Kettering but his family lives in the Columbus suburb of Upper Arlington.
