Students Reenter School After Evacuation

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A local school was evacuated Thursday morning after flue gas entered the building.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Students at Hawthorne Elementary, at 5001 Far-View Dr., were evacuated for a gas leak, according to Columbus fire.

Hawthorne Elementary is part of the Westerville City Schools district.

Columbus fire was called to the scene before 9:30 a.m.

The gas was shut off to the building.

Students were allowed back into the building before 10 a.m.

Greg Viebranz, the district's public information officer, said flue gas entered the building. He said the gas was cleared and students were allowed to reenter the building.
