COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An attempted robbery ended in a murder scene late last month, and authorities continued to look for clues.
NBC 4's Mike Jackson reported on this week's Central Ohio Crime Stoppers' crime of the week.
A male customer entered the Marathon gas station at 3851 Livingston Ave. on the city's far East Side at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 25.
The man approached the counter and began to interact with 47-year-old clerk, Daniolo Perez.
Perez was standing behind a glass partition.
In an attempt to rob the store, the suspect pulled out a handgun, according to authorities.
Perez was shot, and the suspect fled the store in a waiting dark-green vehicle with tinted windows, authorities said.
Perez died from his injuries.
The suspect was described as a black male with a dark complexion. He is in his late teens to early 20s, is 5 feet 7 to 9 inches tall and was wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt.
Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of as much as $2,000 for any information received by Wednesday, April 22, 2009, that leads to the arrest/or indictment of the persons responsible for the crime.
