COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Fire officials said intense coverage of South Side neighborhoods that have been hit by arson fires in addition to heavy publicity might have prompted a teen who spent six days on the run to turn himself in.
Jeremy Davis, 15, escaped from a group home April 5 after having been charged with criminal damaging in connection with a series of arson fires that have plagued the South Side of Columbus for weeks.
Battalion Chief David Whiting said police and fire officials have been tireless in trying to track down Davis and 12-year-old Ryan Parsley, another suspect who also escaped from custody.
Davis was being questioned Saturday night after he turned himself in around 7:30 p.m.
Parsley remained at large.
Early Saturday, there were two arson fires investigators said they think might have been related to the earlier crimes, which authorities say may be the work of a number of young people.
Ryan Parsley's father also has been charged.
