COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Worthington police heard a radio bulletin: A jeep with a for-sale sign in the window was headed north on High Street into their jurisdiction.
If they saw the Jeep, they were to stop it and hold the occupants for Columbus police.
A pair of armed robbers only had a short time to enjoy what police said was cash obtained in an armed robbery.
Matt Alvarez had the FAST FACTS for NBC 4.
CPD was called Sunday afternoon by a woman who had come to High Street to meet men who were selling a Jeep. She'd seen the ad on $900, seemed good.
The men allegedly pulled a gun, held it to the woman's head and took the $875 in cash she brought with her for the car purchase.
The Jeep, the suspects and the buyer's cash disappeared north on High Street.
The victim called for help, and the police quickly put out the "be-on-the-lookout-for" bulletin.
Columbus police took the two men into custody, and charges were pending.
Police offered this warning and advice for people who are doing business with another person or people: Don't go alone. Be in a well-lit area. Ask for the buyer's or seller's ID before doing business.
