COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A South Side man was supposed to spend Easter with his young children, but investigators said an arson fire led to his sudden death.
NBC 4's Lauren Diedrich spoke to Heather Anderson, the younger sister of 27-year-old Robert Brumfield, Jr.
"He became one of the best people I know," his sister said through tears.
Brumfield's body was found Saturday in a house on Locke Avenue early Saturday morning.
Brumfield's house was burned, CFD investigators said, by a deliberate act of arson.
Battalion Chief David Whiting told NBC 4 that it did not appear Brumfield had a role in the fire-setting.
Anderson bemoaned the loss of her brother and the timing of his death. As she told Diedrich, he overcame a troubled past and turned his life around.
"He had been in trouble before, and he served time for that. When he got out, he turned his life around," Anderson said.
The married, father of four worked in car and motorcycle sales and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Anyone with information about the arson fire that resulted in Brumfield's death should call CPD at 614-645-4730.
