COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A proposed law making its way through the Ohio Statehouse could toughen Ohio's law over the new trend known as "sexting."
"Sexting" is when someone sends a lewd message or photo over a mobile device like a cell phone or Blackberry.
Senate Bill 103 would prohibit a teenager or child from sending such a message and would make such a crime a misdemeanor -- not a felony.
The bill is in response to several cases, including one in which a Cincinnati high school senior hanged herself after she was taunted for weeks by other teenagers.
The 18-year-old girl had recently sent a nude cell phone photo to her boyfriend and the photo was circulated to students at several nearby schools.
