COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An OSU student's 911 call helped Columbus police catch two robbery suspects.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Tuesday.
The two male suspects -- whom police said could be connected to other recent campus crimes -- entered the residence of several college-age males in the 400 block of East 15th Avenue, according to a police report.
Suspects Ajani Ware, 23, and Brandon Crowder, 21, allegedly broke into the campus-area home at about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Crowder had a handgun and ordered all of the residents to the ground, according to the report.
The victims were bound and their heads were covered as Ware and Crowder ransacked the home, police said. The victims also were threatened repeatedly during the ordeal.
NBC 4 Photojournalist Andy Long talked to a victim who said he came home during the alleged home invasion.
The victim said he came into the house, saw it was a mess and then saw a suspect who was armed.
He said he threw his cell phone at the suspect and tried to escape but the suspect grabbed him.
The victim said only one of his roommates was home when the alleged incident began but that friends and roommates walked in every so often and became part of the situation.
The police report from CPD listed five male as victims.
The victim NBC 4 spoke with said another victim sent his girlfriend a text about the situation but she didn't believe it was happening.
The victim said the incident lasted for about two hours, and CPD's report said the suspects spent more than an hour in the residence removing property.
The suspects allegedly put the stolen property in one of the invasion's victim's vans with the intention of fleeing the scene in the van.
One of the victims used his cell phone to call 911.
Responding officers surprised the suspects as they were taking property to the van and made apprehensions after a short foot chase, according to CPD.
No one was injured during the robbery or the foot chase.
Several of the victims' belongings were found on Ware and Crowder at the time of their arrests.
CPD said Monday's home invasion was similar to the other campus-area home invasion-robberies that occurred on East Avenue Monday, March 9, and Waldeck Avenue and East 20th Avenue Saturday, March 14.
