CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is getting $20 million in federal stimulus money to build a new taxiway and apron, the area where aircraft are usually parked and serviced.
The U.S. Transportation Department announced the project Wednesday.
The money is coming from the Federal Highway Administration, which has about $1.1 billion to allocate to airports on a discretionary basis.
It's being distributed based on a priority system that addresses airport safety and security.
Continental Airlines is the only major carrier that maintains a hub at Cleveland Hopkins International, although all the major carriers or their regional affiliates offer some flights at the city-owned airport.
