COLUMBUS, Ohio – With motorcycle season underway, it is a great time to get the word out to both motorists and motorcyclists. Ohio has seen a steady increase in motorcycle fatalities on Ohio roads. There has been a 35 percent increase just in the last three years of motorcycle fatalities. Thursday at 2 p.m., Motorcycle Ohio, a part of the Ohio Department of Public Safety will be meeting with the public to kick off the Ride Smart Campaign. The campaign will encompass all aspects of motorcycle safety riding including, riding sober, riding endorsed, riding alert, using the right gear, riding trained and riding SMART. The director of Ohio Department of Public Safety, Henry Guzman along with motorcycle riders, enthusiasts and local law enforcement motorcycle units will be at 1970 West Broad Street to help kick off the campaign.
