COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A far south side man faces felonious assault charges after allegedly shooting his neighbor in the hand.
The incident began outside a home in the 4200 block of Sestos Drive shortly after 6 p.m.
Police said Shawn Jarvis and Jeffrey McDowell argued Thursday after McDowell told four children not to draw on the sidewalk in front of his house with chalk, NBC 4 reported.
The children, ages 9, 8, 4 and 3, went into a home next to McDowell's and said the man was cussing at them.
Police said Jarvis exited his home and asked McDowell not to cuss at the children.
Witnesses told police that while he was in front of the children, McDowell pulled a gun from his pants and fired twice, striking Jarvis in the hand.
Jarvis, 36, was taken to Grant Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.
McDowell, 59, was taken into custody.
