TOLEDO, Ohio-- Someone has made off with a dock and boat ramp installed at a historic Lake Erie lighthouse so more people could come to see renovation work under way.
The Toledo Harbor Lighthouse Preservation Society is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the thieves.
Society president Sandy Bihn says the thefts were discovered last weekend. She says the dock and ramp cost about $40,000 and a large boat would have been needed to take them away.
The items were installed in October at the 105-year-old lighthouse, which sits about five miles offshore in the Toledo shipping channel.
