LIMA, Ohio -- An Ohio man has been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting another man nearly two decades ago in what police believe was a case of mistaken identity. Carl Humphreys III of Kenton has been arrested in Florida and is expected to be sent back to Ohio this week. A warrant charges him with the November 1989 murder of 33-year-old Haskell Woodley.
Police say Woodley was standing outside a home in the northwestern Ohio city of Lima when a vehicle pulled up and the passenger shot him in the chest. A detective has been reviewing the case at the request of Woodley's sister, who says the arrest is a relief for her family. Detective Kent Miller says Lima police made progress with help from previously uncooperative witnesses.
