COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A Cleveland-area police officer was involved in a two-vehicle crash on the city's West Side Tuesday afternoon.
NBC 4's Mike Bowersock reported from the scene with the FAST FACTS.
The accident was at 4545 Fisher Rd. and happened before 3:15 p.m. That's near the Eddie Bauer Warehouse.
Authorities closed Fisher Road between Phillpi Road and just west of Hilliard Rome Road.
The law-enforcement vehicle involved is a Bratenahl police cruiser.
The officer is from the city of Bratenahl, which is a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.
He was in town for training, according to officials. He was trying to turn his cruiser around when the accident happened, according to CPD.
Authorities could not confirm who was at fault currently.
The 23-year-old female driver of the other involved vehicle was transported to Mount Carmel West Medical Center in stable condition.
A 1-year-old baby also was involved in the accident. The baby was transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital in stable condition.
The officer was extricated from the vehicle by 3:45 p.m. It took crews 20 minutes to get the officer out of the cruiser.
The officer was transported to Mount Carmel West Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
Although it was a K-9 cruiser, a canine officer was not in the vehicle.
