HILLIARD, Ohio -- Local parents are outraged after they say school officials didn't react properly to their daughter's assault.
Steven Evans says his seventh-grade daughter is still recovering from an assault that happened at her Hilliard school Wednesday.
Evans says three boys came up to the 13-year-old girl around lunchtime at Weaver Middle School and grabbed her breasts and butt.
Evans said the school called to notify him of the incident, but that he wasn't told how severe the groping was.
When his daughter arrived home, that's when he and his wife started looking for answers.
"If someone is physically hurt, the police should be contacted," Evans said.
Evans said the school didn't take the situation seriously, nor would they tell him if the boys had been punished.
The school wouldn't say how far the discipline would go -- citing student confidentiality policies.
"It just happened yesterday afternoon. When we were notified, the building administrators immediately responded. They pulled any kids in question out of the classroom, spoke with students and also notified parents," said Carrie Bartunek, of Hilliard City Schools.
But, the district did not notify police, Bartunek said. She added that the district has a zero-tolerance policy, but administrators are to look at the situation before police are called. She claims that in this case, that call wasn't warranted.
"Things don't happen quickly. You have to have due process. You have to investigate thoroughly," Bartunek said.
There is no word on if or when charges will be filed.
