WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio -- As Donald Branham visits his daughter's grave site on the third anniversary of her death, he still has no closure.
The fire that killed his 8-year-old daughter was ruled an arson.
For three years, arson investigators have told the father of seven that the fire remains under investigation and that no charges have been made, Branham says.
Mackenzie Branham was sleeping when she was killed in a house fire April 27, 2006.
At the time of the blaze, Mackenzie's mother and the mother's boyfriend also were sleeping but woke up and escaped.
Donald Branham said he has not given up hope to find the person responsible, but he's frustrated that he hasn't heard much from investigators.
"I've been pushing for three years to find out who did this. I'm not going to stop. That's my rights," he said.
Last weekend, Donald and other family members held a vigil in memory of Mackenzie.
"We have been doing multiple interviews throughout the case. We try our best to keep the family as updated as possible, as to exactly what might be happening," said Shane Cartmill, public information officer for the state fire marshal's office.
"It's been three years since the death of his daughter. Do you understand the frustrations of the father?" Alvarez asked.
"It can be very difficult for a family in this situation. We understand that. We want to make sure people understand there is no statute of limitations on a case like this. It is an arson. There is a homicide involved and we're going to take as long as we need to make sure we get the person responsible for this fire," Cartmill said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the state fire marshal's office.
