COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An early morning arson fire raged through an East Side apartment complex Monday.

Columbus fire responded to an apartment complex at 2936 E. 5th Ave. at about 5:08 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters encountered an old motel that was converted to apartments. The blaze destroyed six of the complex's 17 apartments, officials said.
Investigators determined the fire started in a couch in a garage area.
The fire was determined to be an arson fire.
The estimated loss for the building is $120,000.00.
One civilian on the scene suffered a seizure.
All occupants were displaced because the gas and electric were shut off.
Volunteers with the American Red Cross were called to the scene to help the displaced families.
Arson investigators continued to investigate.
