»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The executive director of Ohio's largest state employees union is stepping down after five years.

Andy Douglas said Monday he was leaving the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association in a negotiated departure.

A message seeking comment was left with union spokeswoman Sally Meckling.

Douglas previously served as an Ohio Supreme Court justice for 18 years and plans to return to work at a Columbus-based law firm.

The Ohio Civil Service Employees Association represents about 25,000 state employees. The union just finished negotiating a contract with the state that calls for no pay increases over the next three years and mandatory 10-day furloughs in the first two years.
