Ohio Chrysler Workers Approve Contract Changes

»  Comments | Post a Comment

TWINSBURG, Ohio -- Members of the United Auto Workers union at a Chrysler plant in northeast Ohio have voted in favor of contract modifications that might help keep the plant open.

UAW Local 122 says the vote Wednesday at the Twinsburg plant near Cleveland was 88 percent in favor of the revised contract and 12 percent against it.

The deal is a part of the tentative national agreement between the troubled automaker and the union. That agreement mostly focuses on wage and benefit concessions in exchange for 55 percent of the company's stock. The company must get concessions as part of its push for more government loans.

The Twinsburg plant has about 1,250 workers and is operating at about 30 percent capacity.
