BRIDGEPORT, W.Va.
For the first time in its history, there are no taxpayer dollars in the North Central West Virginia
Airport's budget.
Interim airport Director Rick Rock says sales of aviation fuel enabled the Benedum Airport Authority to achieve its goal to make the Bridgeport airport self-sufficient.
Authority members decided in 2007 to start selling aviation fuel at the airport.
The authority approved the fiscal 2010 general fund budget last week. The more than $3.68 million budget is expected to have a $685,700 surplus.
Authority President and Harrison County Commissioner Ron Watson says authority members are looking at ways to use the surplus to meet the airport's needs.
