COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Debbie Mitchell is feeling pretty good, even though economic times are less than perfect.
Her job at a mortgage company disappeared, She told NBC 4's Mindy Drayer she just decided to look on the change as an opportunity.
"I kept thinking, at my age and my time of my life, if you don't do it now, you wont ever do it so its something I had to do."
So she opened a coffee house where she serves everything from paninis and sweet potato fries to ice cream---and lemonade! The store sits in the
busy downtown of Westerville and lots of Otterbein students have adopted the cafe.
Mitchell reciprocates by showing student art for decoration.
"It gives them exposure and that's something I feel is very important to them at such a young age," says the 54-year-old Mitchell, who is a good learning experience for students of any age on how to make the best of a situation that doesn't look good at the outset.
She called her shop "Serendipity."
"If you even have the desire to want to try something new that you've always wanted to do, take a chance. Just take a chance, and get out there, and try it!"
