NEWARK, Ohio -- Authorities said a man fatally shot his wife and then turned the firearm on himself in the parking lot of a Newark pharmacy Tuesday morning.

Newark fire and police departments were called to the CVS pharmacy at 1370 West Main St., near Licking Memorial Medical Center, at about 8:20 a.m. on reports of a shooting.
Officers found 47-year-old Vicki Channel with several gunshot wounds. She was inside a gold Pontiac Grand Am.
She was transported to Licking Memorial Medical Center where she died from her injuries about at about 8:50 a.m.
Officers found 50-year-old Robert Channel in a second vehicle, a black Chevy Camaro.
He was dead from a single gunshot wound.
Newark police said video and forensic evidence plus witnesses statements revealed Robert shot Vicki and then fatally shot himself.
Robert and Vicki were married but had a history of domestic trouble.
No CVS employees were involved in the murder-suicide.
It remained unknown why Robert and Vicki were on the premises.
NPD was not considering any other suspects currently.
