Governor Joins Sportsmen's Caucus

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Governor Ted Strickland has joined the Governors Sportsmen's Caucus, a group that aims to promote the interests of hunters, anglers and wildlife professionals. The bipartisan group of 16 governors was launched this summer at the National Governors' Association annual meeting. Strickland says hunting and fishing are an important part of the nation's heritage and that activities by hunters and anglers generate billions of dollars and employ thousands of people.

In Ohio, one out of six residents participates in hunting or fishing activities. The state's 1.5 million hunters and anglers spend an estimated $1.9 billion annually. Strickland also was a member of the bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus when he was congressman.
