DELAWARE, Ohio – The Delaware Post of The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating two serious injury crashes that happened within minutes of each other on Saturday evening.
At approximately 7:53 p.m., 51-year old Scott Wesney of Delaware was traveling on Klondike Road in a convertible with his two children. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway striking several trees and an embankment causing the vehicle to overturn, ejecting all three occupants. Wesney was taken by squad to Grady Memorial Hospital and the two children, ages 2 and 4 were transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in an unknown condition. According to the report, alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
Minutes later just north of the City of Delaware at approximately 8:00 p.m., Marcelo Garcia of Ashley was driving a Ford Expedition and drove left-of-center striking a Chevrolet Malibu driven by 18-year old Carly Kunkle-Swagler of Ashley. Kunkle-Swagler was transported by squad to Riverside Methodist Hospital in an unknown condition and Garcia was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in an unknown condition. There is no indication if alcohol was a contributing factor in this crash, as it remains under investigation at this time.
