MASON, Ohio -- A man with breathing problems after riding a roller coaster at the Kings Island amusement park has died. Park spokesman Don Helbig said ride operators noticed the unidentified man was having trouble breathing after riding the Firehawk coaster on Saturday. Emergency personnel were called and responded immediately, and the man was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.
Helbig said Kings Island voluntarily closed the ride, despite no indication that the coaster caused the man's death. The state was to perform a re-inspection of the ride Sunday. The park's Web site says the Firehawk travels at 51 mph along 3,340 feet of track and has five inversions.
