Suit Alleges Ohio Doctor, Clinic Altered Evidence

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- A family of a 16-year-old Ohio girl who died after brain surgery has filed a lawsuit alleging a neurosurgeon and a clinic altered evidence to avoid a wrongful death claim. Jessica Siegel of suburban Cincinnati died in August 2006. Her family has sued Dr. Andrew Ringer and the Mayfield Clinic & Spine Institute. The suit accuses Ringer of botching the surgery and trying to cover it up by excluding the head from an autopsy.

The clinic said Tuesday it stands by the high quality of its physicians and staff and that Ringer exemplifies clinic values, including honesty and skill. The statement says it would be inappropriate to comment on specific allegations in a pending lawsuit. Siegel's family filed a separate lawsuit in 2008 alleging organ donor companies and others took her eyes without consent.
