YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown-area library system is the latest to ask voters for help paying the cost of day-to-day operations.

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will ask voters in November to approve a levy to raise about $3 million a year.

The library's board started cutting hours and staff in the spring and will further shorten hours next month.

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will ask voters in November to approve an operating levy for the first time in 80 years.

The Troy-Miami County Public Library in southwest Ohio is seeking $610,000 in new revenue with its November request.

The state budget approved in June cut statewide library funding by $84 million.
