AKRON, Ohio -- An animal rights group plans a protest outside the court appearance of an Ohio pet store employee accused of drowning two injured rabbits.
Twenty-year-old Liz Carlisle of Ravenna in northeast Ohio was charged earlier this month with two counts of animal cruelty after she allegedly bragged on Facebook about drowning the animals.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says activists will gather outside Akron Municipal Court holding "Justice for Animals" posters when Carlisle is arraigned Monday.
The case led Petland Inc. to close the Akron store where Carlisle worked. The chain said the rabbits suffered "horrific mistreatment."
Carlisle has not been reachable at the address given in court records, which also do not list an attorney for her.
