CANTON, Ohio -- The State Highway Patrol says a black bear weighing an estimated 250 pounds has been killed in a traffic crash in northeast Ohio's Stark County.
Troopers at the patrol's Canton post say a 17-year-old motorist reported that he struck the animal around 10 p.m. Wednesday when it ran in front of his car on a road in Marlboro Township.
The driver was not hurt.
Local authorities and the Ohio Division of Wildlife say they'd been receiving reports of bear sightings in the area in recent days.
