WHITEHALL, Ohio -- Whitehall police arrested a suspect Thursday after a recent rash of vehicle break-ins and are looking for more victims.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Whitehall police said it has responded to a series of at least 15 to 20 vehicle break-ins around the city during the past two weeks.
The suspect(s) stole tools, computers, GPS units and other items, WPD said.
Many of vehicles that were broken into were work vans or trucks.
Local citizens helped WPD identify a minivan that was allegedly involved in the crimes.
Third-shift patrol cars located the vehicle unoccupied and parked at 235 Littleflower Lane early Thursday.
Police began surveillance on the minivan and apprehended 27-year-old Charles Druschel in the vehicle shortly after he committed another alleged theft.
The vehicle used in at least two of the alleged crimes was a maroon 1997 Dodge Caravan.
A large amount of allegedly stolen items were recovered at Druschel’s residence, WPD said.
Whitehall police continued to catalog the items and was working to locate and identify the rightful owners.
WPD said it thinks there have been additional victims on Columbus’s East Side.
Victims should file a police report.
Druschel is not the only suspect, and additional charges were anticipated.
Anyone with additional information was encouraged to call WPD at 614-237-6333.
