NBC 4’s Marcus Thorpe GOT ANSWERS at a Friday afternoon press conference.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers have requested information from the community.
All of the following information was taken from an official release.
Suspects forced entry into the Black Wing Shooting Center on state Route 36, just west of Delaware, at 12:30 a.m. Monday, August 17.
Suspects removed multiple firearms, including hunting rifles, shotguns, assault weapons and tactical knives, and several rounds of ammunition. Officials haven't conducted inventory checks yet, so an exact list of missing items is not available.
Delaware County Sheriff Walter L. Davis III called the crime troubling, as the weapons are in the hands of criminals.
Authorities said detectives have been working around the clock on this case.
Evidence found at the scene suggested the suspects parked a vehicle along state Route 37, in front of the business, during the burglary.
The vehicle might have appeared to be disabled.
Shooting center members said they are surprised that a break-in like this could happen, adding that there is a very strong security system in place.
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms officials said the shooting center had adequate security in place for the amount of firepower they had inside.
Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, FOP Lodge 9 and Black Wing collectively offered a reward for as much as $5,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of the person or persons responsible.
Anyone with information should contact the Delaware County sheriff’s office at 740-833-2890 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 877-645-TIPS (8477) or go to http://www.stopcrime.org.
