COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A teen was struck by a hit-and run-driver Friday morning, according to authorities.

Columbus police continued to investigate an alleged hit-and-run accident that occurred at about 5 a.m. on Sawmill Road at Summit View Road on the North Side.
A 16-year-old male was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition, according to the Columbus fire medic transport.
The teen's condition was upgraded from critical condition and he was not in life-threatening condition, according to CPD's accident-investigation squad. AIS updated NBC 4 on the victim's condition before noon Friday.
The teen was with friends and was trying to flag down a vehicle for help with a flat tire, according to witnesses.
A vehicle struck him and fled the scene, CPD said.
Sawmill Road was closed to southbound traffic at Summit View Road. Authorities reopened all lanes of southbound traffic at 6:30 a.m.
