COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus police continues to search the North Linden area for a suspect after an alleged assault, home invasion and auto theft Friday morning.

CPD was called to the 1800 block of Eddystone Avenue before 11:30 a.m. on reports that a male in his late teens forced his way into a home, punched a female in the face and stole a vehicle.
The suspect knocked on the door and asked the woman if she needed any help around the house.
She was suspicious, and he forced his way in as she tried to close the door, according to CPD.
Her two children ran to the bathroom to hide while the woman struggled with the intruder, CPD said. The suspect allegedly punched the woman in the face during the struggle.
The children popped the screen out of the bathroom window and ran.
CPD said the suspect must have heard the children and fled with the woman’s purse, keys and vehicle.
The allegedly stolen vehicle is a Chrysler Town & Country with a license plate of BN67QC.
CPD found the vehicle at East North Broadway and Suwanee Road.
The suspect was armed with a knife and fled the scene on foot.
The suspect was described as a black male in his teens who is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 120 pounds. He is thin and has a dark complexion.
He was wearing a long-sleeved, zippered sweatshirt, black hat and jeans. He was armed, police said.
The woman was injured but not seriously.
