COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Family and police are still looking for answers a year after someone shot and killed a 16-year-old boy who was tossing eggs at passing cars.
Garrett Burton died a year ago today in the incident on the far West Side of Columbus.
Boys with the teen that night say a man came up on foot, confronted Garrett and then shot him.
Police say the case remains open.
Garrett's father, George Burton, who is also a Columbus police officer, says he can't imagine how someone could resort to such violence over a prank.
The case is similar to a still unsolved 2006 incident in which a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot on the city's West Side while egging cars.
